Rebecca-Zarah Mir was born on December 23, 1991, in Aachen, North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany. With a multicultural heritage, her father, Asam, immigrated from Afghanistan, while her mother, Mareike, is German. Rebecca grew up with an older brother and a younger sister in Monschau-Imgenbroich, near Aachen, and attended St. Michael High School in Monschau.

Rebecca first auditioned for Germany’s Next Topmodel in 2009 but was unsuccessful.
