The 2,500 sq. ft. space preserves its old-world charm, from its wooden beams to shuttered windows. Inside, the decor evokes the warmth of a mountain chalet, with gramophones, Victorian floral-upholstered chairs, and woolen throws adorning the space.
Mother-Son Duo Behind the Magic
Scarlett House marks Malaika’s first collaboration with her son, Arhaan Khan. Joining them in this venture are Arhaan’s childhood friend Malaya Nagpal and restaurateur Dhaval Udeshi, co-founder of Bandra favorites like Gigi and Lyla. For Malaika, this project is deeply personal. “I wanted a space where you could just be—without feeling like someone is yanking a chair from underneath you,” she says.
Malaika and Arhaan share a bond rooted in their love for food and entertaining. Their travels around the world have inspired countless recipes recreated at home, making this restaurant a natural next step. “We’ve traveled the world together, returning with recipes we’ve recreated at home. Starting a restaurant felt organic,” Malaika shares, looking around the lovingly designed space.
